Research Congress

The PGIHS Research Congress is the premier event of the PGIHS research Calendar. Its main objectives are to provide an opportunity for postgraduate students of the Institute to present their research work at an internationally recognized academic forum and to serve as a principal forum for dissemination of research findings to the public and fellow researchers.

The inaugural Congress (PGIHS-RC-2017) was held on 31st March 2017 with Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, the Governor of the Central Bank, delivering the Keynote Speech.

The second research congress of the PGIHS (PGIHS-RC-2018) was held on 3rd  April 2018 with Hon. M.A. Sumanthiran, MP and President’s Counsel, delivering the keynote speech.

The third research congress of the PGIHS (PGIHS-RC-2019) was held on 29th March 2019 with Ms. Andrea Cuzyova UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Sri Lanka as the Keynote Speaker, delivering the keynote speech.

The fourth research congress of the PGIHS (PGIHS-RC-2020/21) was held on 30th November 2021 with H.E. Professor Sudharshan D.S. Seneviratne; the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh and Emeritus Professor, University of Peradeniya delivering the keynote speech.

PGIHS-RC-2017, PGIHS-RC-2018, PGIHS-RC-2019 and PGIHS-RC-2020/21 were highly successful events with many postgraduate students presenting their research work for the first time. Both congresses were attended by large number of academics, research students representing both local and overseas academic institutions and experts from the industry and other interested parties.
